The Song of Empathy

It is heartwarming to see how the nature is replenishing itself as soon as we took a step behind. The retreat may have been forceful but has been a retreat nevertheless!

I am glad that we cannot hold back nature and I am glad to see the greens getting greener, the air and water getting cleaner. I am glad to hear the chirping of the birds again.

However, let us, in the midst of this bittersweet scenario, give a thought about those who have been caged for decades. We are close to losing our sanity staying indoors with all the basic necessities intact in less than a month. There are innocent animals out there, unnecessarily trapped in cages, with nowhere to go, with nobody to complain to, with nothing to do but just to sit in an unimaginably small and confined area. And what is this for? So we can just have a look at them? At what cost? Our 10 minutes of awe and fun comes from a lifelong misery of those who cannot even express it. Now that we have been put inside, can we relate better? Can we abandon zoos? Can we stand against it? I will.

You cannot step out?

Neither can they.

You have a home to stay in?

They do not.

Have you always been caged?

No, you haven’t.

Have they always been prisoned?

Yes, they have.

Will you always be quarantined?

No, you will not.

Will they always have to live the same?

Yes…

Are you staying in for your safety?

Are they being kept there for their own good?

You and I both know the answer.

Can we stop this cruelty?

Absolutely!

But will we do it?

The decision is yours, choose wisely!
